Motivation Monday – How do we learn to adapt

Easy for some, very difficult for others. How do we learn to adapt in certain areas of our life? This was a tough one for me, in so many different aspects. I was also fortunate enough to have a supportive family, wife and friends. We aren’t always all that lucky, but it doesn’t mean you can’t do it on your own, it just means you have to work harder for it.

I moved overseas a few months ago, to a completely different culture and climate at that. I moved into a different industry ( which was long overdue ) and I had a lot to learn on many different aspects. To top it all off, I made this move without my wife, as she is only coming up in a few months. As you can see, there was a lot I had to adapt to.

Self confidence, self assurance and self growth are 3 very important aspects that help get me through this so far and are continuing to do so. You see, I had to believe that my decision was the right one, I had to believe that I was able to overcome adversities and I had to believe that taking this big a step would only help me grow as a person. All of these have been correct so far.

The big underlying factor in all of this, is fear. See, when we choose to adapt fear kicks in and we start thinking negatively within. That right there, is the key to adaptation. Being able to overcome that fear and that negativity, and being able to channel positivity and belief.

You always need to believe in yourself. You always need to trust the process. To make a success of yourself, sometimes its required for you to step into the unknown and conquer. It’s not always going to be easy, but it will always be worth it in the end.

My quote for this week.

“Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.” ~ George Addair
